COLLECTION III
BUCKTOWN
Cincinnati, Ohio
September 3–6, 1841
Situated along the Ohio River, Bucktown was one of Cincinnati, Ohio’s earliest Black communities and an important gateway between slavery and freedom. During the Cincinnati Riots of 1841, residents organized under Major Wilkerson, a free man of mixed ancestry, to defend their neighborhood against violent attacks, including artillery fire. This collection honors their discipline, resilience, and the enduring legacy of a community determined to protect what it had built.
Fabric: Thick 6.0 oz, 100% U.S. cotton.
Fit: Boxy and modern with dropped, rolled-forward shoulders.

The piece carries a bold collegiate-style front graphic honoring Bucktown, Cincinnati’s historic Black community, and the year 1841 — a moment when Black residents stood together against racial violence.

The design speaks to resistance, memory, and the discipline of a people who refused to be erased.
Finished in black with distressed white typography, the tee is built to feel both archival and current — a wearable marker of history, pride, and protection.
